No applause. Just opinions.

You’re probably wondering, what the #$%& is a flying tomato?

You should be ashamed of yourself. The Flying Tomato is an American icon! He’s won gold medals in the Olympics, and has just won his fourth (four-peat) Winter X Game Gold for the SuperPipe. Kudos to him! Shaun White IS the best snowboarder on the planet. Granted he did terrible on his prior event, SlopeStyle, in the X games (placed 13 out of 16), but snowboarding is MEANT to be done in a half-pipe.

I am an avid skier, you’ll usually find me on double black diamonds in Killington, Vermont at LEAST five to ten times a year. So far this winter I’m only at two, I’ll be back up there in no time. I know from experience that snowboarders like to ‘scrape’ down the mountain, 75% of the time on their butts.

If there are two things that snowboards are good for, it’s for creating nasty mogul’s for skier’s and doing crazy awesome tricks on a half-pipe. I’m not trying to knock snowboarding, but I think even most avid ‘boarders would have to agree with me. One of these days I will find myself back on a snowboard, because I had a blast my first time ever, eventually cruising down blue squares, until it came to an abrupt halt when I slammed my head into the side of a mountain in upstate NY. This terrible event made me forget the whole day. The mountain ‘EMT’ said I was fine, the MRI the next day said otherwise.  I’ve tried boarding once since then and managed to get down Killington green circle’s on my butt. I swapped back to my ski’s thereafter.  The concussion literally knocked all my snowboarding technique right out of my brain.

Well, maybe I’ll give it a shot one of these days, but I’ll be sure to get myself a helmet first!  I’m not sure if I’ll ever be like the flying tomato though!
