No applause. Just opinions.

Yes you read correctly, Carmelo Anthony will be wearing a Knicks jersey come tomorrow evening. If you were not aware of this your TV is either broken, you don’t surf the internet at all, or you literally hate basketball with a passion. If the latter is the case you should probably just stop reading now and wait until I post next.

Fake photos are all over the web of Melo in a #15 Knicks jersey. As cool as those photos look right now, Anthony has requested #7 for his jersey. Maybe it’s lucky? Anyway, in my opinion the Knicks made a solid move to get him. Although they gave up pretty much the kitchen sink, they replaced their lost players with solid ones, many of which have much more experience (regular season and/or post season). The Nets were also in the mix, but it seemed Carmelo knew where he wanted to go all along. He knew he could create a nice dynasty in Manhattan with the existing pieces, or just rebuild a franchise at soon-to-be Barclays Center in Brooklyn. I hear many people complaining about the loss of Raymond Felton and Danilo Gallinari. They replaced them with Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony. How can you really be mad at that? To me, those are upgrades (then again the NBA only became really relevant to me last night). I remember as a kid when Billups tore it up in Detroit. Yeah, he is old and will be gone next year. That’s OK though, Chris Paul will replace him and I will be able to purchase the perfect Knicks jersey.

The Nuggets on the other hand lost their star, but they didn’t lose their dignity. They made sure to get a nice chunk of players, draft picks, and $3million cash. Seriously, who wouldn’t want that kind of cash?!  The Knicks also now lack a center, which could be bad, but that is to be seen (Dwight Howard anybody?). I think the Knicks will be a force to be reckoned with this post season. Do I think they are as good as the Celtics? The answer is no, plain and simple. I don’t include the Heat either because they are a ‘new’ team too, so anything can happen with them. Sure, Melo and Amar’e could end up hating each other, which I highly doubt because they do consider each other friends. A true test will be this Sunday when the Knicks play the Heat, and I’m sure that will be a game to watch for sure. Wait, did I just say I’d watch a NBA game in advance? See what star power like this is doing in NYC?
