No applause. Just opinions.

It’s been quite some time — my new job responsibilities have taken up A LOT of my time.

Here are some quick tidbits of current sports news:

Apparently my good thoughts of Nova were all too soon, he looks very much like a young pitcher that he is at this point. After tonight’s game his ERA stands at 4.70. Although this isn’t terrible for a #5 starter, he needs to start throwing better and more consistent without a doubt. The Royals crushed the Yankees tonight, and to lose a series to a team I thought would be junk this year is not reassuring. Then again the Indians are still in first place.

The NBA Eastern Conference finals will be a doozie. With names like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, and Carlos Boozer we’re all about to witness a major firefight. I think the Heat take it, but this is the first Bulls team to make it since the Michael Jordan era.

Beltran hit like he was a kid again, 3 HR, 6 RBI, and bringing his average to a healthy .295, keep in mind he is starting everyday. Maybe his decision to get the surgery, as much as the Mets didn’t want it, was actually a good idea.

Tiger Woods walked off of TPC Sawgrass after the ninth hole. This isn’t a good sign for Tiger surgically repaired legs, and definitely not a good sign for golf’s TV ratings.

The San Jose Sharks should have taken out the Red Wings four games ago, but it doesn’t matter because they avoided doing what the Yankees did in 2004. Off to the Western Conference finals they go against the Canucks. I see the Sharks surpassing Vancouver and heading to the Stanley Cup finals, but I’m probably biased in that prediction.
