Hello! Welcome to The Bronx Cheer, a unique sports blog made by myself, Gus. I’m a 24 year old New Yorker currently residing in the wonderful borough of Brooklyn. I grew up right smack in the middle of Long Island, as an avid Yankees fan. My favorite sport of all time would have to be baseball. I could watch every game of a 162 game season if given the opportunity. I became a football fan later in my life, and picked a franchise that has been in disarray for some time. Granted they have made it the Superbowl in the past ten years, but they haven’t posted a .500 or winning season since then (2002) until this year. Yes, you guessed it (probably not), the Oakland Raiders! I also prefer to follow the Giants over the Jets, but NY football is cool with me. I tend to also follow the Steelers because my stepdad is a huge fan.
My reasoning for starting this blog is because I felt that my opinions needed to be shared, and I am pretty entertaining, so why not? I can stop flooding my facebook with sports updates, and start posting my thoughts here and actually discuss things with sports people. Also, writing here and there wouldn’t hurt, and it will keep my brain functioning (at least a little bit).
As for other useless facts about me:
- I have a Bachelors Degree from Binghamton University’s College of Community and Public Affairs.
- I love techie stuff, computers, smart phones, video games, etc.
- I am a car freak, and own my very own C6 Corvette.
- Yes, I do have a Yankees tattoo, so when I say being a fan of them is in my blood, I actually mean it.
- I work for a national corporation, but my dream job would probably be a sportscaster on Sports TV or radio.
- I don’t have a favorite team for the NBA (I actually prefer/watch NCAA ball), but I hope the Brooklyn Nets are a force in a few years.
- I stopped following hockey right after the lockout, but grew up following the Islanders. A few of my really good friends LOVE hockey, and follow the Rangers like it’s their job, so the conversation will come up on occasion.
