James Harrison is a staple to the Steel Curtain. As most of you may already know the Steelers are about to attend their 8th Superbowl in their much celebrated history. The Steelers are a whopping 6-1 so far when it comes to the big game. This is most likely due to their amazing defense (aka. Steel Curtain), and key defensive players like James Harrison and Troy Polamalu.
I found James’ media day interview quite hilarious, especially his one comment towards Roger Goodell. Harrison has been fined over $100,000 this year for ‘hard hits’ on fellow players. Ultimately these ‘hard hits’ are defined by the commissioner, so you could imagine the relationship between Goodell and Harrison as not being too great. In fact even Harrison considered their meeting a ‘waste of time’ and concluded that the ‘NFL doesn’t care about its players.’ Also, let us not forget that Harrison contemplated retiring this year due to all the fine’s he had received.
Here is a quote from his media day Superbowl interview, maybe you will find it as funny as I did, maybe you’ll think he’s acting like a child out of spite. Let me know what you think in your comments!
“”I don’t want to hurt nobody. I don’t want to step on nobody’s foot or hurt their toe. I don’t want to have no dirt or none of this rubber on this field to fly into their eye and make their eye hurt. I just want to tackle them softly on the ground and if y’all can, lay a pillow down where I’m a tackle them so they don’t hit the ground too hard. Ok, Mr. Goodell?”
