No applause. Just opinions.

A lot of you Mets fans are breathing a heavy sigh of relief right now.

Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez are… wait for it… GONE! This move was a long time coming and quite honestly necessary for the Mets organization to move forward. Granted they will lose about $18 million, but the Mets are no stranger to money problems. The fan base hated both of these players, and for very legitimate reasons. Castillo couldn’t play second base if his life depended on it. Oliver Perez couldn’t hit a strike zone if it was 6 feet wide and 10 feet high.

Castillo lost the game for the Mets when they were about to beat the Yankees last year. Remember the A-Rod foul chop (when he smashed has bat one home plate and figured he’d pop out)? I remember sitting at work and telling my Mets loving friends to quiet down, and the game is never over until it is over, and boy was I right. Fifteen seconds later the Yankees won, and Luis made one of the biggest errors of his career.

In Ollie’s last start during spring training he let the first two batters (both minor leaguers) hit home runs. This shouldn’t be happening from a pitcher who used to be an Ace. He just doesn’t have it anymore and the Mets were done letting him ”try” to ”get it back.”

So kudos to the Mets for making a very important decision for their stumbling organization. The time came, and they knew what they had to do.

So, how about Chase Utley? He must be really hurt for the Phillies to sign Luis ‘I can’t field’ Castillo. I’m pretty positive that the Phillies or any other team would not get close to touching Oliver Perez. Who knows though, I could be wrong someone could be looking for a lefty specialist who specializes in giving up home runs.

How do you feel about the Mets getting rid of their annual bums, and choking on millions upon millions of dollars in the process? Could you care less because you hated the two of them and wanted them gone? Or, should the Mets have sucked it up and kept them so their payroll wouldn’t be more screwed up then it already is?

P.S. I had my fantasy draft last night, and I believe that my team is very solid (the best).  I made one risky pick on Johan Santana in the 21st round, but I think it will pan out well for me. You can leave your thoughts on that, too.

I do agree this was a must make decision … as a Met fan, these two players could quite possibly go down as the most hated (while in a Met uniform) players. Now building on this, my hope is the Mets keep a status-quo team this year and after the season, remove the salaries of Beltran-KRod-Santana, so we can start rebuilding. Also, there is the chance the Mets will choose to trade Reyes during the season, and to be honest I hope Reyes starts off fast so we can get a good package back in return.

P.S: You do not have the strongest fantasy team, but if you want to check out the best team, you can look for the Madoff Metros!

Why not get rid of KRod with Reyes and make the package a little more enticing? I’m a little surprised the Mets are going to keep KRod for now, but his spring training ERA is 0.00. Not to shabby for a doofus. Who will be the Mets closer if KRod goes though?

I think you can package both but you may be able to trade in separate deals … will depend how they play up till All Star break … you better hope for the Yankees sake you dont sign him.
